Teacher training opportunities at Academy

AS the Government outlines plans to reform teacher training, a successful scheme in Essex is offering opportunities to graduates.

The Training School at Greensward Academy, in Greensward Lane, Hockley, has been producing top rate teachers for the last nine years.

It offers on the job training plus a salary, allowing graduates the best possible start to their career.

The facility is exactly the type the Government this week vowed to set up around the country.

Ministers have published a white paper including measures to recruit the brightest graduates into the profession and encourage teachers to develop skills by observing colleagues in the classroom.

Jane Butler, Training School vice principal, said: “This is considered a leading training school in the Essex area, with outstanding facilities to support training. As a centre of excellence, we will ensure you receive a bespoke training plan which meets individual needs, both in the classroom and through weekly training sessions.”

Trainees work both within Greensward Academy, within a dedicated training facility in Hockley and at other schools during the one-year contract.

The Training School is now recruiting for the Graduate Training Programme (GTP) starting in September 2011 and is particularly keen for applicants wanting to specialise in maths, English, science, design and technology, religious education and music.

The GTP is a teacher training programme designed for graduates and gives the same qualified teacher status as awarded by a postgraduate certificate of education while training and working in a paid teaching role.

Mrs Butler said: “This programme is ideal if you want to change your career and become a teacher, but need to earn an income while you train.”

Graduates must have a good degree and GCSEs in maths and English language at A* to C. Experience of working with children is desirable, but not essential.

First impressions counted for Mousesale Brentwood

Fran Brabham-Neil, of Mousesale Brentwood, used KLC to successfully launch her new online estate agency business.

“I was launching my company in the local paper and was very aware the article had to be written well as this was the first impression of our business.

“Kelly came to my office and I told her all about my business. She asked many questions so she understood what our business was about and what message we wanted to get across to our prospective clients.

“Since then, we have gone back to Kelly and she has written an article for press for our first year anniversary. I received many phone calls from local residents as a result of the article so it clearly was successful in reaching our target audience.

“I would strongly recommend you use Kelly for your business as well – first impressions are so important!”
