Providing PR services to multi-academy trust

As schools bedded down to a new normal in June, we continued to provide PR services to our clients to ensure their efforts were promoted.

Our journalist works with the primary and secondary schools within BMAT Education, in Essex and London, each week to gather positive news articles to write and distribute to the local, regional and education media.

The articles are also used to populate the Trust’s websites and social media.

Take a look at some of the publicity we secured for BMAT in June…

National publicity for client school

Just before lockdown hit, we arranged to have a national education journalist visit one of our client schools.

New Rickstones Academy, in Witham, Essex, has been on a rapid journey of improvement in recent years, going from hugely undersubscribed to an Ofsted-rated Good school.

We were keen for our client to be given the opportunity to tell the story of its transformation and so invited the editor of Teach Secondary magazine and journalist from Teachwire news site to meet the head and have a tour.

National publicity for multi-academy trust

We work closely with education publication editors who regularly turn to KLC to provide features focusing on our school clients.

So, when we were approached by Teachwire – the online publication which supplies resources, news, products and comment from the world of education – to produce some content around the school closures due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we were happy to oblige.

We turned to our client The Sigma Trust, which looks after 12 primary and secondary schools in north Essex.

Our journalist – Kelly Clark – spoke with heads at the four primaries within the Trust, as well as the CEO, to bring together a 2,000-word feature.

We have also promoted the Trust’s schools in the past by arranging for their teachers to write mock lesson plans to appear in national magazine, Teach Secondary

As schools continue to provide home learning for the majority of their students during the Coronavirus outbreak, our work to promote them positively in the media carries on in the new remote way, too.

Instead of our journalist visiting our client schools within BMAT Education each week, our work to gather positive news stories continues via telephone, email and video call during the crisis.

We are regularly securing positive publicity for the primary and secondary schools in Harlow, Epping and Stansted in Essex and Newham in London which make up BMAT.

Promoting client schools in Witham, Essex

We have worked with Maltings Academy, New Rickstones Academy and Witham Sixth Forms for ten years, securing positive publicity for them in the local media.

Pre-lockdown, our journalist visited the schools and sixth form, in Witham, Essex, every month to gather positive new stories to write and distribute.

Now, we provide the same service remotely to ensure the good work going on during the pandemic is promoted to the community.

Providing PR services to multi-academy trust

We have always been proud of our client schools, but never more so than during the Coronavirus shutdown.

The government’s decision to close schools to all but the children of key worker parents came with just a day or two’s notice for schools, pupils and parents to prepare for a whole new way of life.

We work with many schools to provide positive publicity, including BMAT Education, with primary and secondary schools in Harlow, Epping and Stansted in Essex and Newham in London.

Our journalist visits BMAT schools each week to meet with headteachers, teachers and pupils as we gather news stories to write and release to the media.

With lockdown came a new way of working for us, too, with our regular interviews carried out over the phone or video call instead of in person.

But, it did not stop the positive news stories from flowing.

Coronavirus – promoting our schools in a new way

March 2020 saw history start to unfold before our very eyes.

The Coronavirus pandemic hit and created a world nobody had seen before.

Among the many thousands of deaths came radical changes to our daily lives… including the closure of all schools to the majority of pupils.

At KLC, we work with a large number of schools to secure them positive publicity.

With their closure came the immediate challenge to teachers and parents to find a new way of inspiring and teaching children.

For us, it meant finding our own new “normal” as we continued our mission to get our schools in the headlines for all the right reasons.

And we succeeded. Take a look at just some of the wonderful pieces of publicity we secured for our school clients in the first days of the Coronavirus pandemic school shutdown…

National publicity for client’s journey of improvement

We work closely with lots of publication editors who regularly approach us to find case studies to fit their feature briefs.

We were recently asked by the editor of Teach Secondary, the national education magazine, to recommend a school they could visit to write a report on.

Our journalist took the editor to client school New Rickstones Academy, in Witham, Essex, where an impressive journey of improvement has taken place.

The visit resulted in some wonderful national publicity for our client, both in print in the magazine which is delivered to every school in the country and online.

Providing PR services to multi-academy trust

Of course, March 2020 will forever be known as the time when the Coronavirus pandemic struck.

And, the virus kept our journalist extremely busy during March (and into April…). But, we also managed to secure our client BMAT Education plenty of publicity before the country’s schools went into shutdown.

BMAT has primary and secondary schools in Harlow, Epping and Stansted in Essex and in Newham, London. Our journalist visits the schools each week to find positive news articles to write and share with the local, regional, national and education media.

Providing PR services to multi-academy trust

What a bumper news month February was for our client BMAT Education.

We produced and shared a huge number of positive news articles with the local, national and education media throughout the month.

Our journalist spends two days each week touring around the Trust’s primary and secondary schools in Harlow, Epping and Stansted in Essex and Newham in London to gather, write and distribute positive news articles.

The articles are not only used as press releases, but they are used to keep our client’s websites and social media channels populated with current content.

We were also asked by Teach Secondary, the national education magazine, to provide a feature for their February issue; an opportunity we took to our BMAT school Sir Frederick Gibberd College, in Harlow.
