GCSE results day – PR, web content and social media

GCSE results day is, without doubt, the busiest day in our calendar.

Working with many schools, we spend the weeks and days leading up to this important time ensuring our clients know exactly what we need from them and when so we get the very best possible publicity for them.

We collect the headline figures and quotes from our headteachers to release first thing on GCSE results day. Our journalists then spend the entire day meeting and interviewing students as they collect their results, picking up the very best human interest stories to help promote our client schools.

Earning publicity for school clients’ exam results

Working with schools is a year-round job for KLC.

Every week, we work closely with our school clients with the mission of securing as much positive publicity for them as possible.

The summer, though, brings two of the very best opportunities to promote our schools – A-level and GCSE results days.

Our journalist handles the release of all our school clients’ exam results, as well as interviewing students to put together interesting case studies editors are always looking out for. Indeed, we are approached each year by editors and producers who know we will provide them with the very best news stories during this annual event. It is not unusual for TV and radio crews to arrange to visit our schools as part of their exam results coverage each year.

KLC story makes front page splash!

Thrilled today to see a story written by our journalist taking up the front page of the Harlow Star newspaper.

We were out and about last week to collect stories to share with the media to promote our school clients’ GCSE results.

While at one school, our journalist met with a student who picked up hugely impressive GCSE exam results, despite a recent cancer diagnosis.

The local newspaper was so keen on the story, the editor sent a photographer to the family’s home to get this front page image.

Every day is a school day

We’re pleased to have all of our school clients back for the start of the new school year.

But, our work for our school clients did not stop over the summer break. Our journalist attended summer schools, activity days and, of course, A-level and GCSE results days throughout the holidays.

Throughout September and October, all of our secondary schools hold open days to encourage prospective students and their parents to select them. So, as much positive publicity during the weeks and months leading up to this critical time is vital. This is where having a PR Manager for a school can become invaluable as they compete against other schools for new starters.

Take a look at just a couple of the pieces of publicity we secured for three of our school clients during the summer…

Such a proud day for us here at KLC as our school clients announce their GCSE results.

School PR Essex

Students wait eagerly at Burnt Mill Academy for their GCSE results

Many have reported, through us, record-breaking results with leaps in their pass rates.

Our journalist spent the morning speaking with students at client school Burnt Mill Academy, in Harlow, Essex, where results are once again their best ever.

Articles, written by our journalist, were also released for clients Maltings Academy, in Witham, and The Helena Romanes School, in Great Dunmow, both Essex.

Photographers from local newspapers, including the Harlow Star, Witham Times and Essex Chronicle, attended the schools by invite of us to capture the tense yet exciting time.

Here’s how the Harlow Star newspaper used the article by our journalist on Burnt Mill Academy on its website this morning…

A publicity first for school client

We’re absolutely delighted this week to have secured a publicity first for one of our school clients.

We offer PR services to Burnt Mill Academy, in Harlow, Essex, and regularly release positive news articles for them to the local press.

GCSE results day brought our most powerful opportunity to promote the school with them achieving a giant 16 per cent leap in this year’s results, making them top of the town.

The news was so impressive, we managed to secure the school a precious slot on local radio station BBC Essex’s popular Drivetime show.

Our client was delighted with the result. Deputy headteacher Charlie McCarthy said: “Thanks for everything Kelly and for setting up the radio interview. First time we’ve had that sort coverage so really good for the school.”
