I’m a journalist with almost 30 years’ experience in writing and publishing stories. These days, one of the services I provide is to help clients to get their positive news in the press – without the need for expensive advertising.
I chat with my clients to establish the best way to earn them publicity – sometimes, they have something in particular they want to promote, at other times they simply want their name out there on a regular basis.
But, unlike traditional PR services, where a press release is put together as a basis for a journalist to decide whether there is a story hidden within it that they are interested in sharing, I produce news stories that I KNOW will capture the attention of reporters and editors.
The harsh reality is that what might be big news to you and your organisation may not be of interest to editors and their audience. That is no problem for me as I will simply find a way to make sure it IS of interest and does get published – and that is generally by finding the human angle and cleverly disguising what may be a dry bit of news within something that will be read.
My early days were in daily newspaper journalism – trust me when I say I can turn a tiny nugget into a shining star of a headline-grabbing story!
