Writing for national newspapers and magazines

One of the most wonderful things about being a journalist is the wide variety of articles we get to write.

One minute, you’re writing a cute story that makes readers smile, the next typing out a hard news article that sparks debate, while the next you’re crafting a 1,000-word interview that gets readers feeling all the emotions.

As a freelance journalist, with decades of experience in newspapers, magazines and PR, there is not a style of writing I haven’t worked with or a topic I’ve not written about.

I can turn my hand to news, features or opinion pieces and produce articles which fit with the relevant publication’s style.

Just recently, I’ve been commissioned to write two completely different styled articles.

I produced a 1,200-word article, ghost written by me to appear as though the subject was speaking to the audience directly…

By complete contrast, I have also recently contributed to the regular Bella Debate feature in the national women’s magazine Bella.

Writing from my own perspective on the debate topic – whether school mums are real friends – it was a joy to write in this completely natural, personal style for a change…
